The flap outside stays shut while the dryer runs
If the hood flap won’t lift, lint, ice, a nest or storm damage is holding it. In a 2000s house with an upstairs laundry, that usually means the line behind it is packed too.
Dryer vent cleaning in Triangle costs $199, normally $298, with a year of Comfort+ membership included. We photograph your line before we clean it.

What it costs
The same prices as everywhere we work: dryer vent cleaning is $199, normally $298, with a year of Comfort+ membership included, or $199 added to an air duct cleaning.
Dryer vent cleaning, a year of Comfort+ membership included
$199, normally $298
Dryer vent cleaning, added to an air duct cleaning
$199
The price covers the whole dryer vent line, from the back of the dryer to the hood outside, with camera photos of what we find, a dated invoice, and before and after photos of your line when we can get a clear shot. Anything past the cleaning, like a new hose or a guard on the hood, you get the price first.
With Comfort+ membership, $199 a year covers the dryer vent cleaning every year, plus a water heater flush with a sewer camera inspection, a heating maintenance visit and a cooling maintenance visit, and we tell you when each one is due.
What’s different in Triangle
Around Graham Park, on streets platted from 1946 through the 1950s, the laundry often ended up in a basement or a utility room, and the dryer vent line became whatever reached the nearest outside wall. Houses that age are where a foil or vinyl accordion hose tends to linger behind the dryer, crushed flat when the machine got shoved back, and where the hood outside can sit just above the dirt.
In the subdivisions platted in 2001 and 2004, Kerill Woods, Cramers Ridge and Lionsfield Valley among them, the laundry room often shares a floor with the bedrooms. From there the dryer vent line threads between floor joists or climbs into the attic before it finds daylight, and every elbow along the way is a ledge for lint. Twenty years of towels through a run like that packs it tight.
About one Triangle address in eight is actually inside the Town of Dumfries, including the Port O’Dumfries townhouses on Masthead Trail and Port Hope Point, built 1974 to 1988 per Town records. With walls shared on both sides, a middle unit’s dryer vent line has to reach the front or back wall, or the roof, and a long hidden run fills faster than a short one. In the Townsquare Court apartments the line may run through walls the building’s owner controls, so ask before booking.
Triangle’s weather gives the dryer vent hood its own job. Prince William County Fire and Rescue says to keep the dryer vent clear of snow during and after a snowstorm, and Triangle gets them: the January 2016 blizzard left 18.5 inches near Dumfries, and the January 2025 storm ended in 45 mph gusts and blowing snow. A low hood is the first thing a drift buries. Wind matters too: thunderstorms downed trees around Route 1, Cabin Road and Locust Shade Drive in August 2022. After a storm, run the dryer and step outside; the flap should lift and blow warm air.

When it’s due

A 2005 house has run twenty years of laundry through its dryer vent, often a long run from an upstairs laundry room, and plenty have never been cleaned end to end.
The first thing most people notice. When the dryer vent is packed, the damp air has nowhere to go, so the clothes stay wet and the dryer runs hot.
The dryer vent, locally
Prince William County Fire and Rescue says to clean the lint out of the dryer vent pipe once a year, to check the venting behind the dryer for damage or restriction, and to have the dryer inspected if clothes take longer than normal to dry or come out hotter than usual. Source.

Choosing who cleans it
Questions to ask anybody who quotes you, us included.
On a 2000s two-story house or a Port O’Dumfries townhouse, the dryer vent hood can be two floors up or on the roof. Ask how they’ll clean from that end, and whether the photos cover the hidden middle.
Brushing the first few feet from the laundry room isn’t a dryer vent cleaning. Ask whether they clean from the back of the dryer to the hood outside, and how they get the lint out of the house instead of pushing it further down.
Camera photos of the inside of your dryer vent line are how you know it needed cleaning, and before and after photos are how you know the job was done. Ask to see them, and for a dated invoice if your HOA wants proof.

Aaron is great ! He explained to me about how they clean the dryer vent, he replaced my old one with a flex type vent duct, he showed me the camera he used to see into the dryer vent. Very professional answered all my questions . Definitely 10 out of 10.

Usually the owner, though your lease says for sure. More than a third of Triangle homes are rented, and a dated invoice from the visit is what a landlord or an HOA asks to see.
