Progress Takes Time Motivation, Filmed During Air Duct Cleaning

The progress takes time motivation fits this air duct cleaning clip, where a tech works return by return. Returns pull your home's air back to the system, so they collect the most dust.

What you’re seeing in this video

Aaron, our duct cleaning technician, in a headlamp and an N95 mask, reaches up with a shop vacuum to clean a ceiling return grille.

In the next shot he's down on a wood floor, feeding a red vacuum hose into a wall return opening and working it back into the duct behind the grille.

Return vents are the intake side of your HVAC system. Household dust, pet hair and lint all get pulled toward them, so they're often the dirtiest openings in the house and worth a slow, careful pass.

Why it matters in your house

  • If your return grilles go grey and fuzzy a week after you wipe them, the return ducts behind them are probably loaded too. Air duct cleaning reaches past the grille.
  • Whole Home Air Duct Cleaning means every supply and every return, not only the few you can see. Ask how many openings a quote covers.
  • A tech wearing an N95 in your house is a good sign. Old return dust is worth keeping out of everyone's lungs, including the person cleaning it.

Why are my return vents so dusty?

Returns pull air from every room back to the furnace or air handler, so they catch whatever's floating around: dust, pet hair, lint and drywall dust from old projects. A filter that doesn't seal well or gets changed late lets more of it into the ducts. Cleaning the returns is a big part of air duct cleaning.
